The past few months were very significant. Key clients and breakthroughs, expansion into new verticals & revenue stability all came, paving the way for security and steady growth.

There are many that I am truly grateful to, here are some of the key people in my journey who have made my success possible.

My very first clients

Before I started my actuarial consulting business, my very first business venture was actuarial tutoring for Society of Actuaries (SOA) exams. I had been teaching at universities intermittently prior to that too, but that was the first time I did it as a business. I reached out to a mentee, a friend of many years, and she immediately said yes and eagerly signed up for my life contingency course without hesitation. My entrepreneurial journey started there. It was a strong gust of wind in my sails, that has carried me on till this day.

My last employer, an insurtech firm based out of Sydney, made it possible for me to continue on as an independent contractor for almost a year after my resignation, which gave me breathing space financially while I built networks and sought our new clients. They gave me a ramp, a runway for me to pick up speed and fly.

My second client, a small medical fintech firm who made a quick deal for a monthly retainer and have been with me for over a year giving us meaningful and challenging work.

My first large client, introduced to me through family friends, who have gradually taken me on for all round actuarial services, and also bring me opportunities through their connections.

Family and mentors

I was born with a silver spoon in an actuarial sense. It was my dad’s ambition since 1974 to be an actuary, that was passed on to my brother and myself. His joy and pride in what I do gives me such strength. My older brother is also an actuary with considerably more years of experience. His constant guidance and encouragement have been vital to me. My family, once they understood why and how I wanted to run my business, have been always encouraging and supporting me even in my moments of doubt.

My close friend and collaborator who started his actuarial business 5+ years ago, gave me the confidence to jump off and start my actuarial consultancy & gave me mentorship and support in so many ways that made it possible for me to pitch various actuarial services from my early days. His words and blessings when I kicked off, “Logen, in business we must carry God in our hearts every day.”

My mystic guides who give me faith, guidance, strength, wisdom and hold my hand as I walk the path, guiding me as if they were guiding a small 5 year old child.

The various leaders of actuarial firms that I’m in touch with, in various parts of the world who give me sagely advice and guidance unstintingly.

My community

It feels really nice when students, fellow actuaries, and friends come up to me and tell me they are cheering me on. They remind me (not exactly in these words) that this venture is much bigger than myself, and something of value is being built for the community.

Thank you all so much, I owe you all a debt of gratitude for giving me courage, strength and faith for me to walk this path and to continue walking on.
