The Haunting Eyes

Those eyes, last glanced years past,
Memory of a yesteryear that refuses to fade,
Emotions once evoked, refuse to subside,
Philosophy, diversions, logic, none of these work..
What’s in those eyes, mere human eyes,
Ah why do they stir such emotions within,
Why do they cause such pangs of grief,
Ah my dear heart, what is it that you’re trying to say?
A window to the soul, the eyes are they say,
Were these eyes, those of a kindred soul?
A soul familiar from ages past?
Eyes that met mine again and again?
In various shapes and forms?
Ah how unkind you have been to us O destiny,
Pulled us apart for no good reason,
Eyes which long to be with each other,
Now far away beyond reach,
Separated by distance, separated by emotion,
Will you be so kind, to unite us again?
